February Half Term Family Activities
14 February 2018
Fun Family activities are lined up at Margam Park and Neath Port Talbot Libraries next week for the half term holidays.
There will be a range of activities to choose from – storytelling in the Castle with Fi and her amazing puppets, make a funky foam keyring on Tuesday
along with lots of other exciting and creative activities to keep you and your family entertained.
’Zoolab’ will be visiting the park on Wednesday 21st February to give a talk about ‘Animals in Winter’ that will give us an insight into the world of hibernation, migration and survival. Session times are 11.00am, 12.15pm, 1.45pm and 3.00pm. Sessions last approximately 45 minutes. Tickets are priced at £3 per child. We ask for all visitors to meet in the Castle before each sessions begins.
Cabinet Member for Education Skills and Culture, Cllr Peter Rees, said “It is a joy to see so many opportunities for families to have fun in Neath Port Talbot during February half term. The range of country parks and indoor attractions in Neath Port Talbot really do have something to offer residents and visitors all year round.”
If the outdoors isn’t for you, you may want to consider a choice of free activities that have been organised in many of our libraries. One activity that is extremely popular is the lego club in Neath Library. However there are many other arts and crafts sessions available in our libraries and throughout the county borough.
If you’re not looking for organised activities, why not take advantage of the fantastic countryside in the county borough. 75% of the area is covered in tranquil forests and hills, with excellent walking and world class bike trails which vary from relaxing to extremely challenging.
If you want to have fun in your own home and borrow play equipment, the Playworks Team offers a FREE play resource loan scheme for parents and childcare providers. The Play Takeaway initiative has over 20 themed boxes to help children have a variety of play experiences.
You can borrow up to 2 boxes at a time for up to one month. You will need to register to use the Play Takeaway service. Once registered you can start borrowing and will receive monthly email updates packed with play ideas and suggestions for using your Takeaway boxes. You can register online: www.npt.gov.uk/playtakeaway, or by downloading a leaflet and sending it back in the post.
