Third Sector organisations invited to apply for share of £165k fund
05 September 2019
Neath Port Talbot Council has opened the window for applications for its Third Sector Grant Fund for the 2020-2021 financial year.
New, emerging and established voluntary groups, community organisations and social enterprises have until Friday 4 October 2019 to apply for funding in three categories. These are, support for core funding over £1,000, support for activities under £1,000 and support of £1,000 or more for activities relating to costs other than core funding, such as projects.
Following a consultation and subsequent revision of the criteria in 2018, applications for core funding over £1,000 will need to demonstrate how their organisation will help reduce demand on council services.
Cllr. Anthony Taylor, Deputy Leader and Voluntary Sector Champion for Neath Port Talbot Council, said:
“Neath Port Talbot has a well-established and highly effective third sector, with third sector organisations and volunteers making a significant and valued contribution to the wellbeing of people in the county borough.
“This council has had a long and productive relationship with the sector and is committed to building on this, as by working together we can make more impact with the resources available to achieve so much more for our communities.
“Our Third Sector Fund was revised last year to ensure it continues to support the priorities in our Corporate Plan.”
There are a number of ways for applicants to demonstrate how their organisation could help reduce demand on council services. These might include promoting and assisting people to use the council’s digital services; encouraging participation in discretionary services like theatres and parks to increase footfall, increase revenues or reduce subsidy; or offering early intervention and prevention activities that maintain or improve people’s well-being.
In an effort to improve the process this year, applicants will have the choice of applying online at www.npt.gov.uk/6427. Alternatively, application forms can be downloaded from the same web page or paper copies can be obtained by ringing (01639) 686219.
