Dog owners are being reminded the seasonal Aberavon Beach Order which took effect from May 1st this year, comes to an end from tomorrow (Tuesday, October 1st, 2019.
Throughout the period of the order (May 1 – September 30), the area of beach which runs from the concrete steps near Scarlet Avenue to the breakwater just east of Victoria Road is classed as a dog prohibited area and is off limits for dogs; this includes the beach, lower promenade and the stairways entering the beach.
During the period of the order, dogs and their owners have still been able to relax and have fun by the sea however, as the area to the west of the concrete steps at the end of the beach nearest to the mouth of the River Neath (near Swn-y-Mor) has still been accessible to them throughout the summer.
As the seasonal order now comes to an end, dog owners are still being asked to play their part in making Aberavon Beach a fantastic place for everyone to spend their leisure time.
