Press Release

Mobile Covid Testing Unit comes to Resolven

13 April 2021

A mobile testing unit will be visiting Resolven in the coming days, to offer a convenient drop-in testing option for people with either the ‘classic’ signs of coronavirus or other symptoms they may feel are unusual for them or their child.

Testing for coronavirus

These may include flu-like symptoms, including any or all of:

  • myalgia (muscle ache or pain);
  • excessive tiredness;
  • persistent headache;
  • runny nose or blocked nose (unless this is a known hay fever symptom for the individual);
  • persistent sneezing;
  • sore throat and/or hoarseness, shortness of breath or wheezing;

Testing will also be open to anyone generally feeling unwell who has been in contact with a known COVID-19 case, or anyone with new or changed symptoms following a previous negative test.

A booking will not be needed, people can simply turn up and be tested if they have any of the above or the three ‘classic’ coronavirus symptoms:

  • Fever
  • a new continuous cough
  • or a loss/change of taste and smell

Following the test, people will be instructed how to register their results.

The Mobile Testing Unit will be located at Resolven Market (site of the old TRW Works) SA11 4SR from Wednesday 14th April to Tuesday 20th April and will offer ‘drop-in’ testing from 9am-7pm. The site will be clearly signposted from the A465 roundabout at Resolven.

The move is part of an effort to drive down cases as much as possible in our communities, helping to allow restrictions in Wales to ease further.

Swansea Bay University Health Board is now offering testing for the expanded range of symptoms across its testing facilities, although booking is required at the other venues. This can be done at: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
