Re-opening 

Van permits: From 13th July householders with vans, pick-ups and double axle trailers can access recycling centres at Briton Ferry and Cymmer. You must have booked a permit and allocated time slot

Household Waste Recycling Centres have now re-opened. There are significant safety measures in place to help maintain the safety and welfare of staff and visitors to the site.

In the interests of public safety, only arrange to use these facilities if you are no longer able to safely store the excess waste at home.

You must have booked a slot before you visit Briton Ferry or Cymmer recycling centres

NPT residents in the Swansea Valley area are able to use the HWRC at Lower Cwmtwrch. Please ensure you check their revised procedures before visiting.

Rules for visiting during lockdown

  • You must have booked a 15 minute slot using our online booking system before your visit
  • Respect staff whilst on or waiting to access the site
  • Proof of residency will be required
  • Only one person per vehicle will generally be allowed. If this is not possible, only one person should exit the vehicle
  • Staff will provide direction and advice in line with social distancing guidelines. They will not be able to help with unloading
  • Parking bays will be closed off on an alternating basis to achieve social distancing
  • Extra signage and barriers will be in place to help enforce social distancing
  • The Reuse Shop will reopen on Monday 20th July with safety measures in place. You can visit the Reuse Shop without a booking but you still need to book a slot to dispose of waste at the Recycling Centre.
  • From 3rd August, you will be asked to open any black bags and sort the contents for recycling. To save time on site, we suggest that you sort your waste before you arrive.
  • If someone in your household is affected by Coronavirus, any waste from your house will need to be handled carefully.  You need to double bag all contaminated items, and keep the bags for three days.
  • If you need to cancel or amend your booking please let us know as soon as you can so we can offer the slot to another customer. Please contact us on 01639 686868 or email customerservicecentre@npt.gov.uk. You will need your booking reference number.

Along with regular cleaning of ‘touch points’, HWRC sites will be cleansed during and at the end of each day.

Vans, Pick-ups and trailers

From 13th July householders with vans, pick-ups and double axle trailers can access recycling centres at Briton Ferry and Cymmer. You must have booked a permit and allocated time slot. This can be done below.

  • Single axle trailers can also access the recycling centres from the 13th July but permits are not required.
  • A permit is not required for cars, jeeps (4x4s), camper vans, family type mini buses, MPV's, single axle trailers, or hire vans but you will still need to book a time slot.
  • Tipper/ Flatbed' vans and large 7.5t vans are not allowed on site

You cannot book another slot until you have used your active booking first. Once  you have completed your visit, you can go online and book the next available slot. 

 

 

Yes. Restrictions have been relaxed on the presentation of black bag waste at the kerbside until 3rd August. Crews will leave excessive quantities of non recyclable waste. Residents should continue to recycle as much as possible.

From 3rd August we will stop collecting side waste at the kerbside. So if you present more waste in addition to your wheelie bin or more than 3 black bags, our crews will not collect your extra waste.

On site staff are unable to help unload any vehicles at this time. You can bring another person to help you, but only one person is allowed out of the vehicle on site.

To adhere to strict social distancing rules and minimise queues on access roads we are only allowing a limited number of vehicles in at any given time.

Not at the moment. The reuse shop is closed until further notice. Garden waste bags can be purchased online

These centres are for HOUSEHOLDERS ONLY and not for contractors/trade use.

Black Bags

Please make sure there are no recyclable materials in your black bags.

From 3rd August, if you visit any of our recycling centres, you will be asked to open any bags and sort the contents for recycling if you have not already done that.

To save time on site, we suggest that you sort your waste before you arrive.

Each household can dispose of up to 3 sacks (1 black bag is equivalent to one sack) per week for free at any of the sites - not including asbestos

Larger loads will have to be taken to the site located in Briton Ferry Industrial Estate and paid for as per the charging schedule below.

The weight of waste will be charged as follows (the upper limit of each weight band will be used to calculate the payment)

This does NOT include asbestos which will be charged per sheet / item.

  • 0 to 100kgs
  • 100 to 250 kgs
  • 250 to 500 kgs
  • 500 to 1,000 kgs

Any amount greater than 1,000 kgs will be charged at 500 kg increments.

The weighbridge will be available between:

  • 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday-Friday
  • 8.30am to 12.30pm Saturday and Sunday

Credit/debit card payments are only available between 8.30am to 4.00pm Monday-Friday.

Cheque or cash payments only on Saturday and Sunday.
