I am a 46 year old woman living in the Margam area and I have MS.
I would like a Personal Assistant to cover the hours of my existing Personal Assistant for planned annual leave.
I am easy going, friendly with a good sense of humour.
I enjoy modern music and I am really interested in fashion, hair, talking, TV programs and makeup.
Purpose
General Duties/Tasks:
- Assist with personal care, showering (all tasks of personal care will be discussed at interview)
- Light household duties, such as putting washing in, getting the washing out of the machine and hanging out, and folding and putting away clothes. Small amount ironing for myself, cleaning bathroom, bedroom and equipment after use.
- Order medical equipment when needed.
- There is some manual handling involved; this would be assisting me with getting into my standing frame aid, using my Motomed hand/bike exercising machine, helping with transfers and using my electric ceiling hoists (must have manual handling training). For hoist and slinging
- Transferring me around the house, from front room to bathroom/wet room to living room. Using electric ceiling hoists. Also transferring me back to front room when needed as I’m a permanent wheelchair user.
- Use self-propelled/electric wheel chair, if needed for transfers inside house and outside for going out. (Permanent wheelchair user).
- Taking me out for local walks, or a bus into town. Also socialising/shopping and generally getting out of the house
Person Type
A person who:
- Is flexible when needed
- Punctual, reliable, honest and positive attitude.
- Is manual handling/slings/meds trained (certificates must be up to date)
- Outgoing, bubbly, fun and be able to motivate/encourage me.
- Good sense of humour with good communication skills.
- Females only to apply.
It would be great if the applicant likes modern music and also likes hair/fashion/makeup, talkative and easy going.
Previous experience is advantageous but not essential
Hours
PA to cover hours when current PA is on annual leave.
Typical hours are:
Monday 09:10am - 14.30pm
Tuesday 09:10am - 14.30pm
Wednesday 09.10am - 14:30pm
Thursday 09:10am - 14.30pm
Friday 09.10am - 14:30pm.
Flexibility is required as times may vary on occasions
Cover needed from Monday 26th May - Friday 30th May (5days)

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
