Description

I’m a young man in my early 20s living in the Margam area with my family and pets. I have ADHD, Dyspraxia and Autism which mainly affects my concentration, impulse control, and memory and communication skills. I can sometimes get a bit anxious in new situations and need a bit of motivation from time to time. I love animals especially dogs and I’ve done courses in animal care at college. I would really like to start volunteering for charities and projects that help animals. I’d also like to be a bit more active and start swimming and going to the gym again. I’m looking for a PA to help me to explore my interests and to help develop my independent living skills. 

Purpose

  • Helping me to find and attend activities I’m interested in i.e. volunteering
  • Helping me to develop my fitness
  • Helping me with independent living skills i.e. money management,
  • Helping me improve skills in cooking and other household tasks
  • Helping me access activities safely
  • Driving me to and from activities in my motability car

  • Someone who will take the time to get to know me and what I like
  • Someone who is active and confident.
  • Someone with similar interests
  • Someone who likes dogs as this is important to me
  • Someone proactive who will work with me to find things to do
  • Someone who will help promote my independence and will treat me with dignity and respect
  • Car driver is essential
  • Some experience of supporting adults with Autism would be an advantage. Experience can be formal or informal.

Hours

5 hours per week on any day apart from Monday and Wednesday

Hours will be flexible to start with a view to building in more structure around activities like volunteering.

Hours will be agreed in advance by mutual consent.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
