Description

I am a lady within my 90s living within the Resolven area. I have been diagnosed with Dementia. I enjoy a chat and love to talk about my previous role when I was a district nurse. I used to love to read and enjoy books. I enjoy watching TV, and have a very loving supportive family around me. I am looking for a personal assistant to support me when my son has a break. I will require a meal prep for my breakfast lunch and a warm evening meal. The hours will be 10 hours per day x 28 days per year. As a family we are flexible and open to discuss further at interview and address any questions.

Purpose

  • Supporting me to remain as independent as possible within my home.
  • Meal preparation three times per day. Breakfast, lunch and a warm evening meal.
  • Keeping me safe within my home.
  • Possible light household duties, to be discussed further.

Person Type

  • Is very understanding and has a good knowledge of mental health issues.
  • Someone comfortable working in a family home
  • Someone respectful who will help me to be independent.
  • Someone supportive who will encourage and motivate me
  • Someone with a proactive and mature attitude to housework.
  • Someone sensitive and open minded who recognises that some disabilities are hidden.
  • Someone discrete and who will respect my confidentiality
  • Car driver preferred but not essential
  • Encourage me to be independent
  • Will make suggestions rather than tell me what to do
  • is trustworthy, reliable and punctual
  • is caring, patient and understanding
  • is friendly and chatty
  • respects my privacy and confidentiality
  • will treat me with dignity and respect
  • Has experience of working with individuals with dementia would be advantageous.

Hours

28 x 10 hour day shifts per year respite.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
