Get help putting your bins out

Overview

If you have difficulty putting your bins and recycling out for collection, you can ask us for help.

We can collect and empty your bins, bags and boxes, then return them to where you left them. This is known as an assisted collection.

Who can get an assisted collection

You can get an assisted collection if:
  • you find it difficult to put your bins out because of illness, age or disability
  • nobody can help you put your bins and recycling out
You cannot get an assisted collection if:
  • someone can help you put your bins and recycling out
  • you have a long drive
  • the property boundary is a long way from the property
  • there are a large number of steps that impact on the health and safety of the collection crews

Apply

Before you start

Check if you can get an assisted collection.

We will need:

  • your name
  • your address
  • contact details
  • confirmation that nobody can help you

What happens next

We will either call you or visit your property to discuss the assisted collection. We'll let you know our decision at the end of the call or visit.

Successful applications

If you're successful, we'll:

  • agree a designated collection point on your property
  • send you a confirmation letter

Your assisted collections will start on your next collection after you receive the letter.

You must continue putting your bags and bins at your normal collection point until you receive confirmation.

Access requirements

We are not permitted to enter any buildings (such as garages or sheds) to move or return equipment.

On collection day, make sure that gates are unlocked and pathways are clear.

Review

We will review the need for the assisted collections every three years. If you no longer need this service, let us know
