Recycle more, recycle right!
Did you know that every council in Wales needs to meet statutory targets for recycling?
Councils could face strict fines if the targets are missed.
This means we need every household to recycle everything they can and correctly!
To improve our recycling rate, we're encouraging residents to reduce, reuse and recycle more.
Recycling matters
Recycling has real benefits for our environment and communities. It:
- reduces the need for raw materials
- saves energy
- protects the environment and wildlife
- reduces waste sent for incineration
- cuts greenhouse gas emissions
- helps tackle climate change

Rethink your waste
Sorting our recycling has become second nature for many of us — but there’s still more we can do.
To really make a difference, we need to think about waste before we create it.
Buy less
Be mindful of what you buy.
Ask yourself: do I really need something new?
Swap the way you shop
Try buying preowned items first.
Use it again... and again... and again
Repurpose or repair instead of replacing. Visit your local repair café to get help fixing items.
Rehome it
Offer it to friends or family, or donate to a charity or reuse shop.
Recycle it
Recycle anything you can’t reduce, reuse, or repair.
Bin it
Only as a last resort
