Grants and funding
Amount awarded:
£360,000 from the Valleys & Villages Grant Fund.
Project features
Features include:
- sustainable technology - solar panels, ground source heating, and a community food garden
- community spaces - co-working studios, educational facilities, and a community café
- green initiatives - a community electric transport scheme and a repair café
- heritage preservation - repurposing the building while preserving its history
Green infrastructure
The green space will focus on biodiversity and mental health. It will feature:
- a bug hotel bike shelter
- a green-roofed community garden hut
- a habitat pond
- food growing areas
- paths and landscaping
- wildlife habitats
It will provide a space for volunteering, events, activities and community opportunities.
Digital
The funding also supported digital projects to reduce the digital divide including:
- the development of a booking system for events on the Hwb y Gors website
- an inclusion project to help people access digital tools and skills
