About Hillside
Hillside is a Secure Children’s Home that provides care for up to 14 children aged 10 to 18. We welcome children of all genders and offer a safe, therapeutic environment where they can begin to heal and grow.
Our approach to care
At Hillside, we follow a trauma-informed model of care that puts children at the centre. We:
- respect each child’s views and promote voice, choice, and control
- co-produce care plans with children to meet their individual needs
- use the PACE model: playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, empathy
- support children’s rights and well being through positive relationships
- work closely with families and professionals to build trust and stability
We aim to improve the well being of every child. Our environment helps children:
- feel safe, valued, and understood
- build emotional resilience and self-awareness
- develop confidence and prepare for their future
- reflect on their life stories and find purpose
Every child deserves the best start in life and the support to become the best they can be.
Care and youth welfare
We support children placed through the Youth Protection Service and those on welfare orders. These placements are made to ensure that children receive the care, protection and support they need in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our approach is trauma-informed and child-centred, helping each young person feel safe, respected and supported throughout their time with us.
