Family and belonging

We support children to stay connected and feel included by:

  • encouraging regular contact with family and friends
  • welcoming approved visitors in a warm, safe environment
  • celebrating cultural and religious events with loved ones

Respecting identity and beliefs

We meet all cultural and religious needs by providing:

  • cultural foods and personal care products
  • religious clothing and resources
  • quiet spaces for prayer and reflection
  • support for families to join in celebrations

Every child is valued for who they are. We create a space where they feel seen, respected, and supported.

Support and transition

We help children understand themselves and build a positive future. Our support includes:

  • helping children understand and manage their emotions
  • building self-awareness, resilience, and emotional strength
  • supporting reflection on life experiences
  • encouraging a sense of purpose and fulfilment

Preparing for what’s next

We prepare children for their next steps by:

  • promoting independence and wellbeing
  • supporting smooth transitions to new placements
  • co-producing personal plans that reflect each child’s wishes and goals

Every child is supported to grow, heal, and move forward with confidence.

Children's voice

At Hillside, we believe every child and young person deserves to be heard.

We’re proud to support youth-led platforms like LOVE (Let Our Voices Explode) and Resolve.

These forums give young people the space to:

  • share their views
  • influence decisions
  • help shape their environment

By listening and acting, we help children feel respected, valued, and part of their own journey.

Advocacy

Advocacy is at the heart of how we support young people at Hillside.

Our partnership with TGP Cymru (Tros Gynnal Plant) means every child can access an independent advocate.

These advocates:

  • help children understand their rights
  • make sure their voices are heard
  • ensure their views are respected and acted upon

This support gives children the confidence to speak up and be part of decisions that shape their lives.
