Apprentices

You will get this discount if someone living at your address is an apprentice.

An apprentice must meet the following criteria:

1. Employed to learn a trade or profession and
   • they receive a salary or allowance (or both)
   • their pay does not exceed the low hourly rates set in the National Minimum Wage Regulations 2015
2. They are taking part in a training programme that leads to a qualification awarded by a recognised body. This means the qualification must be recognised by either:
   • the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation under Section 132 of the Apprenticeships, Skills and Learning Act 2009
   • Qualifications Wales under Part 3 of the Qualifications Wales Act 2015.

Before you start

We will need:

• confirmation of the number of adults resident in the property
• details of the person's employment and their salary. The documentation should be provided by the employer on headed paper and should include:
  • the name and address of the employer
  • the name of the training programme and subsequent qualification
  • course dates
  • the salary
