Three new tenants move into Baglan Energy Park industrial units

Three new businesses in the renewable energy industry have moved into industrial units at the Baglan Energy Park.

The exciting developments have been funded through Swansea Bay City Deal Supporting Innovation and Low Carbon Growth Programme’s Property Development Fund, which is led by Neath Port Talbot Council. Both firms, a renewable energy provider and energy efficiency business, Sureserve and renewable energy wholesalers HDM Solar Ltd, have moved into units at Mardon Park on the Baglan Energy Park.  

The unit now occupied by Sureserve and developed by Aim2Sustain Properties Ltd, attracted a £341,800 grant from the PDF with £370,598 of private investment with more than 40 jobs being created and 18 safeguarded.

The business plans to install 30 KW of solar, batteries and EV charging and will promote the use of public transport and cycling to work.

The second unit is occupied by HDM Solar Ltd, was developed by GBV Properties Ltd, attracted a PDF grant of £360,000 with £388,143 of private investment. Eight jobs have been safeguarded with 15 created and five expected to follow in the next year. The firm will install 40KW of solar PV panels with battery storage and EV chargers.

The owners of the third unit, Greenwise Construction Ltd, have announced that it will be occupied by Simon Safety. They are an established business based in Carmarthenshire and they are opening a new branch at Mardon Park. They are currently recruiting a branch manager, salesperson and two admin staff.

Councillor Jeremy Hurley, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Economic Growth, said:  

“This fits in perfectly with the council’s Decarbonisation and Renewable Energy Strategy. We welcome the new businesses to the Energy Park and wish them well for the future. We are look forward to the ventures running smoothly and profitably”

The PDF project is part of the Swansea Bay City Deal’s Supporting Innovation and Low Carbon Growth programme which forms part of a portfolio of 8 projects in total including:
