The council has launched Let's Talk: Living in NPT 2026, a survey that asks its residents for their views on the council’s services, what they feel the council's priorities should be, how they interact with the council, and their experience of living in their local area.

The survey closes on 27th October 2026. It’s available for anyone aged 16 or over and living in Neath Port Talbot.

Cllr. Simon Knoyle, Cabinet Member for Finance, Performance and Social Justice, said: 

"The council provides hundreds of services that impact on people's daily lives.

"We are encouraging residents to complete our survey and share your views on the services that matter most to you.

"Taking part will take around 10 minutes and your feedback will help us understand how well our services are meeting residents' needs and expectations. The results will help shape future priorities, service planning and delivery across the council."

Your feedback makes a difference

Since last year’s survey, Neath Port Talbot Council has taken steps forward to implement and make progress on the feedback it has received.

The survey’s responses have helped inform the council’s delivery plans and prioritises, helping gain a better understanding of what matters most for the community.

Since the last survey, the council has approved a £4.5m Neighbourhood Improvement Plan, which will invest in improvements to local infrastructure, public spaces, road safety, and community facilities over the next three years.

Progress has also continued on the Port Talbot Town Centre Regeneration project, including plans to refurbish the Princess Royal Theatre and redevelop Civic Square to create a safer, greener and more attractive town centre.

"By taking part in this year's survey, you'll be helping us continue to improve services and ensure that our plans reflect the needs and priorities of people living across Neath Port Talbot."

The quickest way to participate in the survey is online at www.npt.gov.uk/consultations 

Printed questionnaires will also be available at libraries across the county Borough, Neath Civic Centre and Port Talbot Civic Centre.

Let's Talk: Living in NPT forms part of a national resident survey programme coordinated by the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) to support councils across Wales in strengthening community engagement and improving service delivery.
