The popular event will be held at St. David’s Church, Neath at 7pm on Friday 23 October 2026.

The Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr Alan Lockyer, said:

“Remembrance is an important opportunity for us all to pause, reflect and pay tribute to those who have served, sacrificed and continue to serve our country.

“I am delighted that this year we are able to bring part of the Armed Forces Festival into Neath, with the Remembrance Concert taking place in the beautiful setting of St David’s Church. It promises to be a fitting and memorable evening of music, reflection and tribute.”

The evening will feature Neath-based rising star Penelope George, a BMus Vocal Studies and Opera Performance student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. A former member of Only Kids Aloud, she now performs with Loud Applause Rising Stars, the National Youth Choir of Wales and the BBC National Chorus of Wales. Penelope has performed in front of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and King Charles and Queen Camilla, on numerous occasions, and has shared the stage with a number of renowned male voice choirs and famous operatic artists. A finalist in the Dunvant Young Singer of the Year competition in 2022, Penelope went on to win Brecon Choir Festival’s Young Singer of the Year Competition in 2024.

Also starring at the concert will be The City of Swansea Pipe Band, Cerdd NPT Youth Brass Band, the 334 (Neath) Squadron RAF Air Cadets Band and brother and sister duo Josh and Makayla Lodwick.

The concert will end with a Remembrance Service, a minute’s silence and thousands of falling poppies.
