St David’s Day in our town centres

Overview

Join us as our four town centres come together to celebrate St David's Day. Throughout February and St David’s Day they will be alive with Welsh colour, creativity, and community spirit.

There's something for everyone:

  • window displays
  • storytelling
  • special menus
  • family activities

Window dressing competition

In partnership with Menter Iaith

We're holding a Welsh-themed window dressing competition for town centre businesses and organisations. They're invited to create imaginative Welsh-themed displays, including things like:

  • dragons
  • daffodils
  • castles
  • flags
  • traditional crafts

Menter Iaith will be visiting the town centres on 25th February to choose this year’s winning windows.

Why not take a stroll around each of our town centres and enjoy the colourful displays for yourself? See how many themes you can spot, and pick your own favourites along the way!

St David’s Day singing workshop

In partnership with San Portablo Arts

We’re pleased to offer a special St David’s Day singing workshop. Participants will have the chance to develop their vocal, performance and songwriting skills.

This two-day workshop is free of charge. It will finish with a public performance, where attendees can showcase their creative St David’s Day pieces to an audience.

Workshop details

  • Dates: 18th - 19th February
  • Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm
  • Location: San Portablo Arts, Aberavon Shopping Centre

Welsh inspired storytelling sessions

We’re delighted to team up with our local libraries to present Tales from the Time Between Times with Owen Staton - storyteller and podcast host.

Step into the time between times, where the modern world fades and the old stories of Wales begin to stir. Owen brings to life the folktales and ghostlore of our land:

  • tales of restless spirits
  • ancient warnings
  • places where the past still breathes

Told aloud in the hush of the library, these stories transform familiar spaces into gateways between then and now. Gather close, listen carefully… and let Wales speak.

While these tales are crafted for adult audiences, they can also be enjoyed by younger listeners aged 8+.
