Event details

In 2025 the UK will commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day- 8th May 2025 and Victory in Japan Day 14th August. In the Park we are taking part in this with a ''Poppies and Doves' Display . This includes:- Entrance hall of the castle – Decoration of crochet and knitted red poppies around fireplace. Will remain in situ until Sept 1 to encompass VJ Day 80, 15th August. Main Castle Staircase Hall – Decoration of poppies and white paper doves also featuring VE 80 amd VJ 80 flags with and an exhibition of images from the 15th August 1945 of the VJ Day Celebrations. Will remain in situ until Sept 1st to encompass VJ Day 80, 15th August. Audio recordings of Churchill VE Day speech, 1940s music and audio of memories of the war years. Will remain until Sept 1 to encompass VJ Day 80, 15th August. In the Gardens- An Installation of 3000 poppies each made from an upcycled pop bottle end- individually painted and attached onto a garden cane. Installed Monday 4th August - 17th August to commemorate VJ Day 80.
