Social Care Wales Workforce Development Programme Partnership (SCWWDP Partnership)

The Social Care Wales Workforce Development Programme (SCWWDP) is a grant initiative aimed at supporting training and workforce development across the social care sector in Wales.

Funding and management

The SCWWDP grant is managed by Neath Port Talbot Council’s Learning, Training & Development Team (Workforce Development Team) and provides funding to support the training and development of social care workers.

Training opportunities

The programme offers a wide range of training opportunities, including:

  • health and safety
  • autism
  • safeguarding
  • mental health
  • dementia
  • lots more

Training is available to both paid social care workers and unpaid carers.

Partnerships

The programme involves collaboration between Neath Port Talbot Council, independent and third-sector social care providers, and other partners across Neath Port Talbot to ensure a well-trained and qualified workforce.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility for effective training, development and qualification provision for the social care workforce remains with employers. The SCWWDP grant is intended to provide a significant supplement to the resources provided by employers.

Priorities

The programme focuses on key priority areas as outlined in the Social Care Wales Annual Circular. The main goal of the SCWWDP is to support the workforce development needs of the social care sector, in line with the Social Care Workforce Delivery Plan 2024 to 2027 ambition to have a motivated, engaged and valued workforce with the capacity, competence and confidence to meet the needs of the people of Wales.
