On-line benefit account for Landlords
Easy access
If the money is being paid direct to the Landlord or agent, the online benefit account will allow you to:
- view Housing Benefit and Discretionary Housing Payments
- view claim details of the claims where you are receiving payments
- view status of claims (active / not active / suspended)
- view notification letters
Responsibilities
When receiving a direct payment from your tenants' Housing Benefit you must tell us of any changes in your tenant's circumstances that you are aware of:
- your tenant vacates your premises
- your tenant is temporarily absent
- there is a change in occupants
- still regularly check the property as you would for a tenant not receiving Housing Benefit
- If your tenant gets too much Housing Benefit and the council tells you to pay it back, you must do so straight away.
- tell us if you change your contact information including your email address
Our information page for landlords provides guidance on reporting changes to a tenancy.
Paperless
Help us to reduce costs and our carbon footprint by going paperless.
You can do this by contacting us with your:
- email address you want us to use
- creditor number (found on your notification letter)
- full name (and company name if applicable)
- address from which your rental business operates (not your tenant's address)
Once you sign up to use the online benefit account, you won’t get letters in the post anymore.
Register
By signing up you will be able to regularly check the online benefit account to:
