Preliminary Flood Risk Assessments

A Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA) is a detailed study of flood risk. This study looks at past floods to see where future floods might happen.

The assessment analyses any potential impact that flooding may have on:

  • people
  • property
  • the environment

In Neath Port Talbot, localised flooding happens when drainage systems are overwhelmed by a lot of rain.

A blocked gully or culvert can then intensify the risk of flooding.
