Apply for a dropped kerb
A dropped kerb allows vehicles to cross the pavement from the road to a driveway.
Use this service to apply for a dropped kerb application for your property and pay for it online.
As part of the application, we will check if you need planning permission for the proposed access.
Guidance
Can You Get a Dropped Kerb?
- Driveway length - at least 4.8 metres long (5.5 metres if in front of a main door).
- Driveway width - at least 2.4 metres wide (3.6 metres for disabled access).
- Easy access - you must be able to drive straight in.
- Distance from junctions - at least 10 metres away from main junctions (can be less in low-traffic areas).
If your driveway doesn’t meet these rules, you can’t get a dropped kerb.
