Approval standards

National Statutory Standards for Sustainable Drainage Systems

A drainage system must meet certain standards for the SAB to approve and adopt it.

If the standards aren't met, the application will be refused. So, it's a good idea to talk to the SAB early and get pre-application advice.

Read the full standards document on the Welsh Government website.

Other standards and checklists

Design and check each application according to the latest SUDS Manual by Ciria (C753). include their checklists. Refer to the relevant chapters in the application forms when submitting your application.

Local Standards

Refer to the Neath Port Talbot guide and the National Standards.

This Authority does not accept the use of deep bore-hole soakaways as they do not mimic the natural drainage of the land.
