Service disruptions
Weather update
The Met Office amber and red extreme heat warnings remain in place this week, and residents are urged to take extra care during the hot weather.
Public Health Wales advice
Stay safe in the heat:
- seek shade between 11am and 3pm
- wear SPF 30+ sunscreen
- cover up with a hat, sunglasses and loose clothing
- drink plenty of water
- avoid jumping into open water to cool off
Schools
Decisions on whether to remain open are made by each school. Check the latest updates.
Waste and recycling
Collections will start earlier (from 4:30am) for the rest of the week due to the heat. Please present waste as late as possible the evening before your collection day.
Recycling centres
Our recycling centres at Cymmer and Briton Ferry will be closed from 1pm on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June due to the extreme heat. If you have a booking after 1pm on these days, you will be contacted directly to confirm your cancellation.
Lower Cwmtwrch Recycling Centre is managed by Powys County Council - please check their social channels for updates if you’re planning to visit.
All Neath Port Talbot recycling centres will reopen as normal on Friday 26 June.
Other services
There may be some disruption to services such as street cleansing, drainage and highway works as operations adapt to the conditions.
