Planning enforcement service
The Council has powers to control unauthorised development. It can take formal action to rectify a breach of planning control, where it is in the public interest to do so.
Planning enforcement charter
In January 2018 the Council adopted a Planning Enforcement Charter that aims to:
- Provide an overview of the planning enforcement system. Includes a summary of what may constitute a breach of planning control
- Details the processes and powers available to the Council
- The policies and procedures showing the way NPT Planning Enforcement deal with complaints
- Detail the service standards that we aim to achieve by:
-
- Ensuring that enforcement complaints are dealt with correctly
- Advising the complainants of the outcome of investigations
If you suspect a breach of planning control, customers are always asked to provide details of the complaint in writing.
