Disagreements, concerns and complaints

Disagreements with the school or the council

If you are unhappy with your child’s ALN provision, you should first speak to the:

  • class teacher
  • school Additional Learning Needs Co-Ordinator (ALNCo) 
  • Head Teacher

If this is not possible, or after speaking to them you need further advice, you can contact:

Make a complaint

If a resolution cannot be found, you may want to make a formal complaint. You'll need to follow different procedures depending on the type of complaint.

About the school

Each school has its own complaints policy that you will need to follow. This will usually be on their website, or you can request a hard copy from your child’s school.

About the council

You will need to follow our Comments, Compliments and Complaints Policy.

Concerns about NHS care or treatment

If you are unhappy with a service provided by the NHS, speak to the staff involved with your care or treatment.

They will try to resolve your concerns immediately. If this does not help, details of how to raise a concern can be found in the NHS Putting Things Right leaflet.
