Support for Learning Service
Meet the team
The Support for Learning service is made up of the following teams:
- Autism Advisory (ASD)
- Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Deaf Education Team (DET)
- Visual Impairment (VI)
- Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI)
- Literacy Difficulties (LD)
- Occupational Therapy (OT)
What we do
We focus on the inclusion and achievement of children and young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in Neath Port Talbot. We do this through:
- early identification and effective intervention (including therapy)
- providing good quality support and advice for schools for pupils with ALN
- high-quality training
- assisting schools/settings in removing barriers to learning by implementing reasonable adjustments
- collaborative working with schools, parents, Inclusion Service teams or other agencies
Accessing our service
Schools should complete a ‘Request for Involvement for Inclusion Teams”. They must get parental consent first.
Parents/carers should speak to the Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo) in the child's school.
Schools are informed of the outcomes shortly after and will then notify parents.
