Help for non-Welsh speakers
Help with homework
For younger pupils, homework instructions will be in both English and Welsh. Older children will be able to explain their work to their parents themselves.
School staff will also be able to help if you have any questions.
English language skills
Learning Welsh will not harm your child's English and may even help it improve.
Pupils in Welsh-medium schools still study English as a subject. They will reach the same standard of English as those in English-medium primary schools.
The English curriculum at GCSE and A-level is the same in both Welsh and English medium schools.
Newcomers and late immersion
Canolfan Iaith y Cwm is a Welsh language immersion centre. It provides courses for 7-11 year old children:
- new to Welsh
- already in Welsh-medium education
The centre will develop your child's language skills and give them confidence in using Welsh.
