Constructive week of work experience for Ioan and Lucas
Bro Dur students, Ioan Clarke and Lucas Davies, aged 15 have had a valuable week of work experience thanks to Neath Port Talbot based company CIWB Construction and NPT Employability.
Working onsite, supporting the plasterers and carrying out general building duties, they have both gained useful work experience and learnt a few new skills. Both Ioan and Lucas now have a good idea of what it’s like to work in construction and the discipline required to function in full time employment. They have enjoyed the experience and feel that a job in construction maybe something they would consider but would keep their options open to explore other opportunities.
CIWB Construction has supported young people from Neath Port Talbot with work placements since the start of the NPT Employability placement programme.
Jamie Davies, CIWB Construction said, “Supporting work experience students in the construction industry not only helps build the next generation of skilled professionals but also ensures the sector thrives with innovation, safety and expertise, fostering a workforce that will meet the challenges of tomorrow’s projects.”
NPT Employability thanks CIWB for their continued support providing NPT students with development opportunities and practical work experience.
Ioan and Lucas work placements were organised by NPT Employment, a Neath Port Talbot Council service and is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
