Neath RFC helping local people develop and support the business

Neath RFC, one of the bastions of UK rugby have had challenging times off the pitch and like many businesses the road to success is a rocky one. Matthew Young, Neath RFC General Manager has identified a number of essential job roles that need to be created. The first role focuses on Customer Service. Emma, a volunteer steward at Neath RFC put herself forward.

Mathew contacted NPT Employability, the service responsible for employment support in Neath Port Talbot. Emma was unemployed so was eligible to apply for NPT Employability support.

NPT Employability was able to enrol Emma onto a ‘Paid Work Opportunity’ which would fund her wages for 12 weeks. Emma has benefited greatly in Customer Services and Neath RFC has been able to establish a job without having to find the funding for wages for the first 12 weeks.

To help Emma progress, NPT Employability is funding training in Excel, Word and Customer Service.

Matthew said, “NPT Employability have been a huge help to both the Club and Emma. We are proving what an important role customer service is. I am hoping NPT Employability will be able to help us with other roles and their training needs. I would recommend any business that is looking for new staff get in touch with them.”

Matthew is busy outlining roles for a Marketing Officer, Community Liaison Officer, Rugby Community Development Officer and an Assistant General Manager. He is in talks with NPT Employability to help support these roles.

NPT Employability is a Neath Port Talbot Council service and is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
