NPT Employability and JES Group Ltd The Skills Academy work together to help unemployed people
Port Talbot based company JES Group has created the Skills Academy, a state of the art welding, fabrication and technical training centre of excellence.
Teaming up with NPT Employability, JES hopes to provide training programmes for unemployed people aged 16 upwards.
NPT Employability participant Dan Winney has anxiety and depression and these have been barriers to him finding employment. NPT Employability helped Dan build confidence and identify what he would like to do. NPT Employability purchased safety boots for Dan and are helping him get a CSCS card. It was suggested that he take part in one of the first welding training programmes.
Dan said, “The support NPT Employability has given me has been great and the welding course with The Skills Academy has helped me regain my confidence. I would recommend anyone looking to get back into work contact NPT Employability.”
Chris Sargeant, Training Liaison Officer, The Skills Academy said, “There is a shortage of skilled welders in the UK. Working closely with NPT Employability we hope to give Neath Port Talbot residents that opportunity to get into welding as a job”
NPT Employability is a Neath Port Talbot Council service and is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
