NPT Employability helps Moira into new job

Neath Port Talbot resident Moira Griffiths was seeking a new start in employment and was directed to NPT Employability, the service that helps people into jobs within Neath Port Talbot.

NPT Employability provided Moira with an employment mentor, Vicky, to help her identify what sort of job would suit her skills and interests. Vicky carried out a Work Star assessment which helped Moira identify her weak and strong skills sets and how she could apply them to different jobs. For Vicky, Moira’s journey into employment was very similar to her own. Vicky had been unemployed and looking for work when she was sign-posted to NPT Employability. After mentoring and training support Vicky applied for a job with NPT Employability and was successful. Now a valuable part of the team Vicky was delighted to support Moira. A job came up with NPT Employability and Vicky persuaded Moira to go for it. Vicky helped Moira complete the application form and get to grips with interview techniques. Prepared for interview and feeling confident, Moira impressed everyone and was offered the job of Business Support Officer.

Moira said “I had completed my degree in English Lit and Creative Writing and was thinking ok what is next. I am in my fifties and had been long term unemployed. Applying for jobs has changed a lot and I felt a little lost. NPT Employability was superb and gave me practical support. When Vicky mentioned the job here I though great, that’s a service I would really enjoy working with. Luckily I was offered the job and I have not looked back”

NPT Employability is a Neath Port Talbot Council service and is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
