Phoenix Fire Service
A group of young people from the Cynnydd NPT service recently attended a 5 day training course at the Phoenix Fire Service, Port Talbot. Cynnydd NPT is part of NPT Employability which is delivered by Neath Port Talbot Council. Cynnydd NPT aim is to build relationships with young people aged 11 to 16, identified by Neath Port Talbot schools to break down barriers to engaging in education and work towards outcomes that will give them the best start in life. Phoenix Fire Service delivered a series of training sessions aimed at engaging, upskilling and boosting the confidence of the young participants. Training included: search and rescue, working in low visibility, team working and problem solving. The young people commented on how the challenges of the training helped them to realise how much inner strength and resourcefulness they had which has helped boost their confidence.
Jenna Powell, Cynnydd Team Leader said, “It was great to see the young people all so excited to be taking part. Dragging dummies through tunnels, working out solutions, learning the Fire Service drill, all great activities that help young people develop confidence. The Phoenix Fire Service continues to be wonderful partners in helping the Cynnydd Service reach its objectives”.
NPT Employability is a Neath Port Talbot Council service and is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
