Consultant Social Worker - Childcare Disability Team
Job Title: Consultant Social Worker
Location of post: Neath Civic Centre, Neath, SA11 3QZ

About the role:
It continues to be an exciting time in Children & Young People’s Services as we continue to embed outcomes focussed practice throughout the service, whilst making solid progress towards our aims of achieving quality, effectively managing risk, and supporting children, young people and their families to make a difference to their lives and improve their wellbeing so they have the best start in life.
We currently have an opportunity for a Consultant Social Worker to join the Childcare Disability Team to support our Managers and Social Workers by leading on complex casework management, providing consultancy services and contributing to strategic initiatives.
You must have a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience working with children, young people and families, as well as have recent direct experience of working with disabled children and their families. You will need to have a deep understanding of relevant legislation, expertise at forming strategic partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and skills at using technology to support process and service improvement. A commitment to continuous learning is also important as you will be expected to assist in the production of policies, procedures and professional codes of practice, and provide training and coaching as required to individuals and groups.
The Childcare Disability Team is well-established; we have a high level of team morale and staff turn-over remains low. The team consists of experienced Social Workers, Practice Support Workers, Portage Workers and Administrative Support. The successful applicant will have access to established management structures, regular supervision (at a minimum of every 28 days), and access to training for ongoing learning and development opportunities. Neath Port Talbot Children’s Services has one of the lowest caseloads across Wales, allowing staff the capacity to provide a high quality support whilst also having a healthy work life balance. We promote and encourage flexible working to ensure employees benefit from having a work/life balance; we will shortly be piloting a hybrid working policy and will be supporting staff to work both at home and in the office.
You must possess a relevant qualification in Social Work and be registered with Social Care Wales to be eligible to apply for this post.
