Keeping the heat in

Funding awarded: £5,200

Pride in Place Impact Fund investment helped improve the safety and sustainability of the clubhouse by funding the removal of hazardous asbestos materials.

The work was an essential first step in a wider programme of improvements designed to modernise the facility and secure its future as a valued community space. By addressing significant building issues, the project has created the foundations for further upgrades that will benefit local residents for years to come.

Improvements made

  • safe removal of hazardous asbestos materials
  • preparation works to support future improvements
  • enabling installation of new windows
  • improvements to the overall condition and sustainability of the facility

Benefits to the community

The project has helped create a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone who uses the clubhouse.

Removing the asbestos addressed a significant health and safety concern, providing reassurance for members, visitors and community groups that use the facility.

The work also enabled further improvements to be carried out, including the installation of new windows. These upgrades have improved comfort and energy efficiency, helping to create a warmer and more attractive space for community activities and events throughout the year.

As a result, the clubhouse is better equipped to support local people by providing a safe, accessible and sustainable venue where residents can meet, participate in activities and enjoy community life.

Looking ahead

The project has helped secure the long-term future of the clubhouse by creating the foundations for ongoing improvements and investment.

With a safer, more energy-efficient building, the facility can continue to serve the local community for years to come, supporting activities, events and opportunities that bring people together and strengthen community connections.
