Neath Boys and Girls Club

A Community Space for All

Funding awarded: £28,914.43

Pride in Place Impact Fund investment helped reopen Neath Boys and Girls Club as a safe, welcoming community facility for local young people and families.

Working alongside match funding secured by the organisation, the project delivered a programme of essential improvements to the building. These included roof repairs, electrical upgrades, improved kitchen and bathroom facilities, and the installation of new fire-rated doors.

The improvements have transformed the club into a sustainable community asset, providing a safe environment where young people can meet, socialise, build confidence and develop positive relationships.

Benefits to the community

The improvement works were completed by the end of May, enabling the club to reopen and welcome the community back into a refreshed and improved space.

More than 50 people attended the reopening event, demonstrating strong community support for the facility and its future role within the local area.

Since reopening:

  • 21 new young people have joined the club
  • attendance at weekly youth club sessions increased from an average of 10 to 12 young people to 18 at the first session after reopening
  • 19 youth club sessions were delivered between June and August

The improvements have created a safe and accessible community space where young people can take part in activities, build friendships and develop confidence.

Looking ahead

The organisation plans to continue its weekly youth club provision while introducing additional family activities, including sports, crafts and games.

These activities will provide opportunities for young people and families to spend time together, strengthen relationships and take part in positive experiences within their local community.

By creating a welcoming and sustainable facility, the project has helped secure the future of an important community space that will continue to benefit local residents for years to come.
