Cynnydd in conjunction with Forest Service
Cynnydd supports young people aged 11 to 24 who are at risk of leaving school, work or training behind. In Neath Port Talbot, Cynnydd CNPT helps young people stay in school. It sets them on a path to a better future.
Many young people struggle in mainstream school. Cynnydd gives them space to grow. They gain confidence, learn life skills, and take steps toward qualifications and work.
Grants and funding
The UK Government backed Cynnydd with £1.3 million from the Shared Prosperity Fund.
This funding helps:
- help stop young people from becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training).
- give learners tailored support in school and community settings
- build core life, wellbeing and employability skills
- offer safe spaces, mentoring and positive daily routines
The funding also supports Forest Service training and practical outdoor learning.
Project features
Support for young people aged 11–24
Cynnydd works with learners who struggle with attendance, confidence or behaviour. The project helps them re engage with education and build hope for the future.
Cynnydd CNPT in schools
Young people aged 11–16 get one to one support. They learn life skills, talk through challenges, and set goals that matter to them.
Daily routines
Breakfast clubs help boost concentration and behaviour.
Qualifications and personal development
Many learners complete an Agored Level 1 Personal Development qualification. They take part in fitness sessions and set goals that drive them forward.
Forest Service training
A group of CNPT learners took part in a 5 day training course with Phoenix Forest Service in Port Talbot. They learned practical skills, teamwork, and outdoor confidence.
Making a difference
Young people say the training helped them see how strong they really are. They left with more confidence and pride in what they achieved.
Cynnydd Team Leader Jenna Powell said the young people’s enthusiasm inspired her. Building, learning and working outdoors gave them pride. She praised Phoenix Forest Service as a first rate partner.
