Change in circumstances

You must tell us straight away about any change that could affect how much housing benefit or council tax reduction you get.

If you delay telling us about a change:

  • you may lose out on extra benefit
  • we may pay you too much and you'll have to pay it back

Moving home

If you’re moving home, please tell us as soon as possible.

  • Fill in the online form.
  • We’ll close your old account so you don’t get overcharged.
  • If you’re staying in Neath Port Talbot, we’ll set up your new account for you.

Landlords and letting agents

Please tell us about any changes in tenancy straight away.

This helps us send the right bills and apply discounts or exemptions on time.

We need you to:

  • give exact start and end dates of each tenancy
  • provide full names and addresses of all tenants
  • include your contact numbers for both your tenant and yourself.
  • tell us if the property is furnished or unfurnished
  • respond within 21 days to avoid a fine
  • Share a copy of the tenancy agreement if we ask for it

Landlords can find tenancy-related information on this page.

Reporting a Death

We want to make this process as easy as possible.

Please contact us so we can update the Council Tax account.

We’ll need:

  • the name and address of the person who has died
  • the date they passed away
  • details of anyone still living in the property (they may get a 25% discount)
  • whether the person lived alone and if they owned or rented the home
  • if they rented, we’ll also need the landlord’s name
