Avian Influenza Alert
19 February 2025
The UK is currently experiencing outbreaks of Avian Influenza (AI). Wild birds migrating to the UK over winter can spread AI to poultry and other captive birds.
Bird Keepers: Maintain strict biosecurity measures to protect your birds from AI. If AI is found in a flock, it will need to be culled to prevent further spread, and strict control measures will be implemented in the surrounding area.
Public: You play a crucial role in reporting dead or sick birds. You can help by reporting:
• Dead birds: Report to 03459 33 55 77.
• Sick birds: Report to 03001 234 999.
