The transformation has created a vibrant destination for local families, offering almost 80 play features designed to encourage children of all ages and abilities to play, learn, socialise and stay active together.

Designed and delivered by Kompan, the new playground provides something for everyone, offering inclusive opportunities for children of all ages and abilities to play, learn, interact and imagine together, while helping to develop confidence, coordination, creativity and social skills in a safe and welcoming environment.

The playground was officially opened by the Leader of the Council and relevant Councillors, project partners and members of the Council workforce. This marked the completion of a major investment in play provision for local children and families.

Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Streetscene, Cllr Scott Jones, said:

“This project supports our corporate objective of ensuring high-quality, accessible and diverse play facilities, physical activities and recreational opportunities for all children and young people.

“We aim to provide opportunities for play by working with local schools and families to ensure we have the right equipment in the right places. These goals are at the heart of our refurbishment programme.

“It is fantastic to see the playground now open and being enjoyed by children and families from across the community.”

The Vivian Park project marks the start of a major strategic programme to improve play facilities across Neath Port Talbot. Over the next two years, 16 additional playgrounds will be refurbished, creating safe, inclusive and inspiring spaces for children and families to across the borough.
