The extra funding will increase the programme’s highway investment to £3.4 million, helping to ensure the full package of planned improvements is delivered to communities across the county borough

The additional investment, funded through Welsh Government capital funding, will support a wide range of works designed to improve everyday journeys, enhance road safety and strengthen local infrastructure for residents and businesses alike.

The programme includes:

  • Permanent pothole repairs.
  • Road resurfacing and surface patching works.
  • Traffic management improvements.
  • Road safety schemes identified through engagement with local members and communities.

Cabinet Member for Streetscene, Councillor Carl Jordan, said:

"This additional investment demonstrates our commitment to improving roads and transport infrastructure across Neath Port Talbot. By allocating a further £500,000, we're ensuring that communities receive the full range of improvements originally planned under the Neighbourhood Improvement Programme.

"These works will help improve road conditions, make journeys safer for everyone and deliver lasting benefits for residents across the county borough."

The Neighbourhood Improvement Programme was established to deliver practical, high-impact improvements in communities throughout Neath Port Talbot. The highway element of the programme complements the Council's ongoing highways investment programme and focuses on delivering visible improvements that matter to residents.

The additional funding will allow the Council to complete the full programme of highway repairs, traffic management and road safety schemes across the county borough, bringing improved road conditions, safer travel and enhanced neighbourhood environments for local communities.
