Biodiversity Duty Plan

Overview

Our Biodiversity Duty Plan (BDP) is our road map for shaping a more biodiverse and resilient Neath Port Talbot. As required by the Environment (Wales) Act 2016, this plan outlines how we actively protect, enrich, and connect nature across our region while we go about our day-to-day work. By embedding sustainable practices in all council services, it drives real action on the ground for biodiversity. Covering everything from habitat restoration to wildlife protection, the plan:

  • builds on our progress
  • adjusts our strategies
  • sets out exciting new initiatives for 2023–26

The Biodiversity Duty Implementation Report 2025 provides a review of the first two years of this plan, ready to refresh our BDP in 2026.
