Port Talbot - UK Town of Culture 2028 Bid

Shaping the bid

Port Talbot's bid for UK Town of Culture 2028 is an exciting opportunity to showcase everything that makes our town special; our people, places, creativity, heritage and community spirit!

The bid will reflect the ambitions, ideas and stories from people who live, work and care about Port Talbot and the Afan Valley.

If you have an idea, a project or a story to share we'd love to hear from you.

Get involved

Over the next couple of months, we will be embarking on an extensive programme of community engagement to help shape the bid. In the meantime, we are encouraging everyone to share their ideas, suggestions and offers of support through the official Town of Culture email address.

This will help us make sure that every contribution is captured and considered as the bid develops and that all information is gathered in one place. To get involved via the official channel, please contact the Town of Culture team directly via the new email inbox: PortTalbotTOC@npt.gov.uk

Why it matters

A successful Town of Culture bid will provide an opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Port Talbot special, shine a spotlight on local talent and creativity, and help create a lasting cultural legacy for future generations.

We look forward to working together to showcase the very best of Port Talbot and the Afan Valley.

Further updates will be published on this page as the bid progresses.

The UK Town of Culture competition is part of the UK Government’s ambition to deliver a long-lasting legacy of cultural participation and restore pride in local areas in every part of Britain.
