Abandoned vehicles

Please note: Waste Enforcement Officers are unable to deal with parking disputes.

A vehicle might be abandoned if:

  • it's no longer taxed: check if a vehicle is taxed
  • it's been in the same spot or area for over 14 days
  • it has flat tyres, missing wheels, broken windows or other damage
  • it's burnt out
  • the number plates are missing

If a vehicle seems abandoned, we may check DVLA records for the keeper's details and place a notice on it.

Private land

Abandoned vehicles on private land are subject to a 15-day notice period, usually after consulting with the landowner or agent.

You can report an untaxed vehicle online.
