Remoo Mortgages recruit apprentices to grow business

Tyler Morgan Maggs aged 24, Lucie Read aged 18 and Sophie Price aged 16 are all undertaking Business Administration apprenticeships from levels 2 to 4 at Neath based Remoo Mortgages.  Started by husband and wife team Ceri and Sarah Evans, Remoo Mortgages has grown quickly, creating sustainable employment opportunities. Remoo Mortgages business values highlights life time support for customers and they carry this through to the people they employ.

Employing people with the same company values as Ceri and Sarah is vitally important to the future of Remoo Mortgages. Finding people with those values, relevant work experience and skills has been very difficult. Ceri and Sarah had the idea of potentially employing apprentices, people they could train and mould into great employees. Their initial perception, like many employers, was that apprenticeships were for young people learning trades like brick laying and plumbing. Speaking with the NPT Employability Apprenticeship Coordinator they learnt that the apprenticeship scheme supported a wide variety of job roles which were available to young and mature people. Three Business Administration apprenticeships were set up and after a series of interview sessions, Tyler, Lucie and Sophie were welcomed into the Remoo Mortgage team.

Sarah Evans, Director of Operations said, “Our commitment to long-term empathetic support for our customers require us to have staff that care about people. We often work with people that have complex incomes, adverse credit, are self-employed or directors of limited companies. They need extra support and our staff need to have pride in delivering it. Apprenticeships are fantastic for both employer and staff. Staff get external training and recognised qualifications and employers can take the time to train the apprentices in the specific skills and knowledge needed to carryout their roles. It’s an investment in the future for both employee and employer. Our industry is dominated by males so it’s wonderful that we can bring females into the business without industry experience and get them trained up and qualified.”

Tyler, Lucie and Sophie all enjoy their jobs with Remoo Mortgages and would thoroughly recommend apprenticeships to any person seeking a new career.
