Make a food complaint

You can complain about food you have bought in Neath Port Talbot, or a food business located in the borough.

Food complaints

Report food to us if it:

  • has caused food poisoning
  • could be unsafe to eat
  • contains a foreign object, such as metal or glass
  • is contaminated with chemicals or unauthorised additives
  • is not what it says it is
  • is incorrectly labelled or misleading (for example, beef sold as lamb)

We cannot deal with complaints where you are unhappy with the quality and only want a refund.

Food business complaints

Report a food business to us if it:

  • poses a risk to health (for example, evidence of pests)
  • is affected by flooding, sewage or poor sanitation
  • smells of gas
  • allows smoking inside
  • presents a risk to public safety

Make a complaint

You can report a food complaint online.

You will need to provide:

  • your contact details
  • the name and address of the business
  • a description of the issue
  • supporting evidence, such as photos, packaging or receipts
We do not seek refunds or compensation for you as a result of you making a food complaint.

What happens next

We will pass your complaint to the Food Safety and Hygiene Team.

An officer will contact you if your complaint needs further investigation.
