Off grid heating fuel support scheme
Overview
The Welsh Government has allocated £3.8 million to help households in Wales who rely on heating oil or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
A one-off £200 payment is now available to low-income households in Neath Port Talbot who heat their homes using heating oil or LPG.
Eligibility
You may qualify if you:
- use heating oil or LPG as your main heating fuel
- are living in the property as your main or only home
- are entitled to the Council Tax Reduction Scheme at any time between 1 April 2026 and 31 July 2026.
How to apply
We have written to households who may be eligible for a payment and invite them to apply.
Completed paper application forms can be returned by post.
As part of your application, you will need to provide:
- confirmation on your heating fuel type
- a bill/invoice (dated within the last 12 months) to support oil or LPG purchased
- a bank statement (dated within the last 6 months) to confirm the bank account where the £200 payment should be made
Only one payment per household can be made. The closing date for applications is 30th September 2026.
If you have not received a letter but think you may be eligible, you can still apply.
