Local Growth Fund (LGF)

Overview

The LGF is a £547 million fund that will support economic growth across Wales between 2026 and 2029.

The fund will invest in projects that:

  • help businesses grow
  • improve skills and employment opportunities
  • deliver infrastructure that supports local economies

Eligible projects and activities

Business growth and innovation

The fund supports businesses to:

  • grow and become more competitive
  • develop new products and services
  • invest in research and development (R&D)
  • improve innovation and productivity

Skills and employment

The fund supports projects that:

  • support people who are out of work
  • provide training and skills development
  • help people overcome barriers to employment
  • improve access to employment opportunities

Infrastructure investment

The fund supports infrastructure that contributes to economic growth, including:

  • business sites and premises
  • culture, tourism and heritage assets
  • transport infrastructure
  • digital connectivity
  • energy projects

Timelines

Projects funded through Year 1 of the Local Growth Fund in Neath Port Talbot are expected to run from June 2026 to March 2027.
