Register your food business
If you are planning to start a food business, you must register with us at least 28 days before starting.
You must register any premises where you handle food or drink, including for:
- storage
- sale
- distribution
- preparation
You can register online free of charge.
Registering vehicles
If you have a permanent location such as a shop or warehouse, you only need to tell us how many vehicles you have. You do not need to register each vehicle.
If you do not have a permanent location and you have one or more vehicles, you must tell us where they are kept.
Tell us about any changes
You must tell us if:
- the person running the business changes
- the business name changes
- the type of business changes
- the address where vehicles are kept changes
- the business closes
If there is a new owner, they must submit a new registration.
New premises or renovations
Contact us for advice if you plan to:
- build a new food premises
- make structural changes or carry out renovations
